The 10th Training Course on Tropical Infectious Diseases

The 10th Training Course on Tropical Infectious Diseases, 28 July-10 August 2018, organized by Osaka University and supported by R.E.P., has been completed. Seven trainees selected from more than 20 applicants of Japanese medical doctors have participated in the training course this year. After staying in the Thai-Myanmar border towns, Mae Sot and Umphang, for the first week, the trainees moved to Khon Kaen in Northeast Thailand. They could learn a lot about tropical diseases that they hardly observed in Japan through the ward practice and the lectures given by the experts in Thailand. In Umphan, they visited the village of the Karen  near the Thai-Myanmar border to see and hear the details on medical situations in a remote area as well as refugee problems.
