Japan-Thailand Research and Education Promotion Foundation (R.E.P.) works with high schools and universities both in Thailand and Japan to support those Thai and Japanese high-school and university students who want to study abroad.
The educational activities currently supported by R.E.P. include the following:
Support for Japanese university and graduate students to participate in overseas training programs.
Support for training in Thailand for graduate students from the International Center for Biotechnology (ICBiotech), Osaka University:
ICBiotech dispatches graduate students to Thailand to participate in summer training programs at Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology in Thonburi. In order to ensure that those Japanese students visiting Thailand for the first time can live and conduct research activities in an unfamiliar environment, R.E.P.’s staff help them in the event of sudden illness or accident, and provide care such as arranging medical visits to hospitals, and, if hospitalized, accompanying them.

Supporting training in Thailand for the students from Rikkyo University’s Faculty of Education:
R.E.P. coordinated a training trip in Thailand for the students and teachers from Rikkyo University’s Faculty of Education, Tokyo, Japan. In collaboration with the Sikha Asia Foundation, which operates in Klong Toey district, Bangkok, we support them to work on the P4C (Philosophy for Children) practice, learn about poverty issues, and study educational development. We also support them to participate in a study trip to Mae Chan Tai village, an Akha tribe’s village in the mountain of northern Thailand, planned and implemented by GIAPSA.

Planning and implementing study trips to increase interest in studying abroad in Japan
For Thai students to decide to study and pursue research career abroad in Japan in the future, it is important to have specific images of the education and research at Japanese universities and research institutes. R.E.P. has provided Thai students with the opportunities to make study trips to visit Japanese universities and research institutes, and make tours of courses and laboratories.
Study trips to Japan for high school students from Suanklaab Wittayalai School:
Students from Suanklaab Wittayalai School came to Japan and visited Osaka University, Kyoto University, RIKEN, Nakanoshima Qross, and other educational and research institutions. They made tours of various courses and laboratories in science and technology such as medical science, life science, biotechnology, and computer science. We have planned and implemented trips on several occasions (adopted as JST Sakura Science Plan in 2018).
