WHAT IS THE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION PROMOTION FOUNDATION (R.E.P.)?
BACKGROUND OF ESTABLISHING THE R.E.P.
The relation between Thailand and Japan has become active more than ever, and many Thai and Japanese researchers conduct actively collaborative researches and fieldworks in various areas of science and technology in Thailand. Thai students who want to learn Japanese have been increasing in number not only in metropolitan Bangkok area but also in provinces, and, accordingly, the needs for expert teachers and professors of Japanese have been rising up especially in local schools and universities. In addition, many teachers and professors are now teaching in science, engineering and other areas of study apart from Japanese language at local institutions. Looking at Japanese companies in Thailand, they create job opportunities and contribute to the promotion of local industry in Thailand while the needs for quality human resources have been rising up in public institutions and local societies. However, the cooperation between those teachers, professors, researchers, and companies as well as public institutions and local societies has yet well established. Consequently, teachers, professors, and researchers are running short of funding while companies, public institutions and local societies lack human resources.
MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY
The R.E.P. raises funds from private companies, public institutions, other organisations and individuals to create JTREP Fund for the purpose of supporting those Thai and Japanese experts who conduct their research and educational activities in Thailand. By bridging between those experts and private companies, public institutions as well as other organisations and societies at the spot of their activities, the R.E.P. assists human resource development.
