From November 18-23, 2024, students enrolled in Osaka University’s Program for Advanced Graduate Studies, titled “Transdisiplinary Program for Biomedical Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” visited Thailand and, with arrangements by R.E.P., received training through visits to the Faculty of Tropical Medicine at Mahidol University, the Osaka University Research Center for Infectious Diseases (RCC), a health care center located in Khlong Toei—the largest slum area in Bangkok—and the Sikkha Asia Foundation, which conducts educational support activities in the same area. Students majoring in Thai at the School of Foreign Studies, Osaka University, also joined the training tour. They served as interpreters on site and, at the same time, gained new knowledge about infectious diseases and public health—topics they rarely have the chance to encounter in their usual studies.
