Students from Suankularb Wittayalai School completed Study Trip to Osaka University
Ten students and 2 teachers from Suankularb Wittayalai School, Bangkok, arrived in Osaka on 14 October and join a study trip to Osaka University from 15 to 19 October 2018. This study trip, coordinated by Research Institute for Microbial Diseases (RIMD), Osaka University, was initially planned and supported by R.E.P. in Thailand for the purpose of providing a chance to those Thai high school students who want to study life and medical sciences to have a specific image of studying abroad in Japan in the future. On day 1 and day 2, the students were given a lecture by RIMD staff, and also experienced the immunofluorescence staining of a cell organelle and cytoskeleton, which is the basic technology of cell biology, in the lab at RIMD, Osaka University. On the following days, they visited the Graduate School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Frontier Bioscience and the International Center of Biothechnology on Suita Campus of Osaka University as well. Apart from the study at Osaka University, they made a tour to National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku) where they learned diverse cultures in the world. They were also invited to Minoh Association For Global Awareness (MAFGA) where they had an occasion to deliver a presentation to introduce Thailand and Suankularb Wittayalai School to the groups of international students from Thailand, Malaysia, and South Korea, who were studying at high schools in Osaka Prefecture. Although the study trip was full of contents, including the latest cutting-edge research results, the students participated actively in those activities every day without showing any fatigue. We believe the memory of this study trip will remain unforgettably as a valuable experience in their young days for a lifetime. The R.E.P. Foundation would like to be continuously engaged in providing assistance to this study trip project so that it will be available in next year as well as in the following years.
